Scott began in the wedding DJ business in 2000, pursuing a hobby that he felt he would love doing. Nearly 18 years later it remains that he continues to love what he does as a DJ/Emcee. To give you an idea regarding what his experience and abilities are, here are some points that you may find key to the success of your next event:
Understanding Varied Event Types: In order to be successful in running or hosting any event, one has to understand the the details and customer expectations. Weddings, fund raisers and special events such as Bar/Bat Mitzvahs require exceptional knowledge of event timing and details.
Speaking Skills: As a DJ/Emcee/Host, speaking is a considerable and vital part of every event. Scott's ability to use appropriate timing, humor and relative content is essential. Knowing how to motivate or capture an assembly of people has allowed him to attain the level of professionalism that customers need, appreciate and are willing to pay for. In this industry, speaking should be with purpose...not simply to hear one's self speak.
Generating Energy in a Group: Not every group of people is the same. They vary in interests, ages, beliefs, cultures, etc. Event types vary as do their expectations. It is the performer's role to determine what motivates a particular group and draw the fun energy from them and expose it, turning a mundane event into a fantastic one. Group dynamics can be changed and molded such that the ending of an event results in comments like - "That was the best time I ever had at a wedding!" or "I can't wait until next year's event!"
Music Selection: The ability to maintain the energy on a dance floor by selecting the perfect series of songs does not happen by luck. It comes with experience and the ability to read a crowd and feel what music it is that they want to hear and will respond to. It also requires a significant library of songs to operate from and a quality professional sound system. PTAK Entertainment's sound equipment consists of both computer for playing and managing digital music (mp3) and disk players for CD play. Both formats are always made available as a backup to one another. Regardless of how many songs are maintained in the library, a client or guest will request a song not found in the mix. For that reason, access to the Internet provides for downloading music instantly to fill a request. Songs, both current and past, have questionable lyrics - often not appropriate for many guests. The music library contains both radio edited and non-edited song versions that will fit everyone's needs.
